The Midland Railway is a Standard Gauge heritage railway line located within the Midland Railway Centre in Butterley, Derbyshire. The railway operates over a stretch of line between Hammersmith and Riddings, although no station exists at the latter. There are intermediate stations at Butterley and Swanwick. There is a large depot facility at Swanwick along with a narrow gauge railway and a short industrial branch which is owned by the railway but does not see regular use at present. The centre is currently home to the largest collection of locomotives in the UK outside of the national collection with over 48 in store in the Swanick yard alone.
